I really wanted to produce an elegant, eye-catching but solid outdoor address sign, so it took some time to research and source some quality materials to put this project together. I decided cedar was the only way to go to endure the elements, especially here in the Pacific Northwest. I was lucky to find an amazing cedar supplier where I found beautiful 12” boards and 1x2” strips for the mitered frame. I just love how the board took up the stain and really brings out the details of the grain and small knots. It really gives it a lot of character and timeless beauty.

I sealed off the frame and backer with 2 coats of outdoor varathane. The letters I did cut in 3/4” pine, as it would be completely primed, painted and sealed for the elements. Lastly, a strong outdoor construction grade glue for glue-up and voila!!
The final product here measures 3’Lx12”W and is sure to make a classy and bold welcome to friends, family and visitors! Be sure to checkout the Custom Framed Signs page to create your own.
